{"id":4536,"date":"2019-10-23T12:06:26","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T09:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.qcs.qa\/?p=4536"},"modified":"2019-10-24T12:38:31","modified_gmt":"2019-10-24T09:38:31","slug":"world-cancer-leader-sumit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qcs.qa\/en\/world-cancer-leader-sumit\/","title":{"rendered":"QCS takes part in World Cancer Leaders\u2019 Summit in Kazakhstan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>QATAR Cancer Society (QCS), represented by its Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al Thani, participated in the World Cancer Leaders\u2019 Summit organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uicc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)<\/a> in Nur-Sultan (Astana) 1, Kazakhstan recently.<\/p>\n<p>Around 350 global influencers and leaders in cancer control and public health from across governments, UN agencies, academia, non-profit organisations and private sectors discussed ways in which cancer detection, treatment and care contribute to the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).<\/p>\n<p>Reducing the number of premature deaths caused by cancer and to achieve the UHC vision of \u2018Health for All\u2019 requires addressing inequities in access to cancer services.<\/p>\n<p>With \u2018Cancer and Universal Health Coverage\u2019 as a topic, the 2019 edition of the World Cancer Leaders\u2019 Summit focused on expanding access to quality preventive care, early detection, treatment and care for cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The experts shared perspectives on the relationship between strong, sustainable and \u2018people centred\u2019 health systems and the effective prevention and control of NCDs, promoting access to cancer services, and priority setting as part of the progressive realisation of UHC.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Dr Khalid said, \u201cOur participation in this summit came within the framework of our membership of the UICC, which is one of the largest international institutions dedicated to develop programmes and future plans through participation in all internal and external events for cancer control.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QATAR Cancer Society (QCS), represented by its Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al Thani, participated in the World Cancer Leaders\u2019 Summit organised by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Nur-Sultan (Astana) 1, Kazakhstan recently.
